I' ve Got Babies!!

Babies!! Posted by Hello

I'ved always wanted a cottage garden - meaning that I wanted to grow a variety of shrubs, perrenials, bulbs, herbs and annuals all at one time in one garden. Another requirement was that the plants needed to self seed as much as possible. Well it has finally happened and I have baby basil plants. It is so exciting. Maybe it was the rain and the seeds were just waiting to germinate with the elixir of rain water? Whatever the reason it is great.

I've been planting lots of murrayas this afternoon to have a hedge, curry plant, sage, catnip, daisies, aspidistra and lavender. Hopefully there won't be any early frosts and they will all be able to establish well in the next few weeks.

I should be studying

And what would I do on a rainy day... Posted by Hello

Well I would make myself a bag, of course. I am having a few days off work with the intention of catching up on my uni study. I love the history unit that I am studying but it does seriously impinge on my art time. So I procrastinate and here is the bag that I made today instead of taking notes and planning my essay. It was much more fun.

This bag is very heavily machine quilted and has appliqued motifs. It is all made from hand dyed cotton fabrics

Looking good

My garden is smiling... Posted by Hello

The rains make our gardens smile. I have the beginnings of a cottage garden in the back yard and this is it. I like to grow a variety of plants including flowering perennials, ground covers, shrubs and herbs all together. I don't plant much in summer because it is difficult to keep it alive but in autumn and spring we see things growing beautifully.

More clouds

And in another direction... Posted by Hello

We might receive more rain yet. As I write this, I can see some blue skies so maybe the clouds have all blown away.

Clouds of Promise

The promise of more... Posted by Hello

Finally, it has rained this year!!! We have had beautiful steady rain. Our tanks are filled and there is some water in the dams around here. In a few days the grass will be green unless it becomes really cold after this rain. Unfortunately that is often the case after rain like this. Maybe these clouds will bring us a little more rain.

Louis

What do you do on a rainy day? Posted by Hello

Curl up in a warm, snug kennel of course! This is Louis, our much loved Foxie Cross dog. He is very spoiled and has a kennel painted the same colours as our house. He loves all his beds and carries the lighter ones to the warmest and most comfortable spots. He is a 5 star dog.
