Roses

This little painting of roses has taken me several days to do. It was an interesting exercise and learning curve. Roses are quite difficult to do and I feel such an amateur with water colour.

In the end I finally ran out patience with it which explaines the shortage of leaves and the background.

I will try again and soldier on.

  • Roses hate me, but you've done a good job. Just think how it must be easier doing the next ones.

  • Jen a rose is one of the most difficult of flowers to draw and paint. My only advice to a novice artist would be to not attempt so many....ONE roses is an danting enough undertaking. You have done a wonderful job on this floral

  • Wow! I agree with everyone else, Jen. This is a lovely painting! I just started a class for doing watercolour botanicals (I'm an absolute beginner), but I'm not entirely sure we even get to try roses. You did a wonderful job on your painting!

    Good Luck with your assignments.

  • Frame this one! It's outstanding. Not much more you could add. Any more leaves would distract from the roses. Such a lovely painting.

  • Fantastic Jen, I am jealous. I have been practising roses for ages and still not good at them. These are simply gorgeous.

  • Well done Jen, they are not easy to do and I could almost smell them as I looked at them.

  • Happiness.
    Gentleness.
    Politeness.
    I like it.
And, the flower language is a kindly heart and satisfies it.

  • Beautiful roses! I like the way it appears that one is looking up at them with the sky in the background. Very nice!
