Opti Minds
Opti Minds
Here is our oldest son Michael. Yesterday he and four friends competed in the Opti Minds Tournament. Opti Minds involves a team solving a problem and making a presentation on that problem. The team chose "Language and Literature" as their theme and were given a clue and had to write a series of clues to find the answer to the problem. Over the past six weeks they have worked on this presentation, writing scripts, making props, learning lines and rehearsing and finally the day came yesterday. The teams also have a 'spontaneous' presentation where they go into a room and are given a different problem and have to attempt to find a resolution in front of the judges. The aim is to promote teamwork, respect for each other and the way they value each other's ideas etc. Anyway, the team performed very well and will now be going on to Brisbane.
As you can see from these photos, Michael is passionate about acting and performing. He had a great time yesterday and his enjoyment is obvious. He is Mowgli here.

Cat's eye
Cat's eye exercise
I'm quite happy with this eye. It was a lovely cat and fun to do. Out tutor has a great ability to teach and bring out our abilities. We were fortunate to have some new, younger people in our class today. It was great to see young artists being encouraged and then being delighted with the results of their class.
Last Week
I've not mentioned this until now, because I have been still getting used to the idea myself. As you might remember, I entered some of my pieces into a competition at Mitchell and won 1st Prize with From blues to Brilliant. It was entered in the Mixed Media section and other entries included timber furniture, handbags, silk scarves, jewellery and sculptures. I am now definitely inspired to continue with my attempts at making art.
